A tutor at Chapel Elementary School in Stratford, William Stewart, 39 of Milford, was arrested at his home on Monday, June 10, as a result of a warrant charging him with risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct, according to Stratford police.

The charges stem from an investigation, which started on March 22, when several students notified school officials that Stewart had made inappropriate comments, requests or gestures to them, police said. An investigation determined that Stewart had acted inappropriately toward female students.

The Connecticut Post reported that Stewart is accused of offering children money and prizes in exchange for kisses.

Stewart posted a $25,000 bond and was released from police custody. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport court on June 20.
