A Milford man was charged with attempted murder July 22 after reportedly trying to strangle a woman during a domestic dispute.

According to police at about 7:45 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a Milford residence on the report of a threatening with a knife.

Officers responded to the residence and learned that Patrick Kiraly, 27, of 15 Colonial Ave., Milford had gotten into a verbal argument with a woman inside the home and at one point punched her in the face and then began strangling her.

The woman told police she almost blacked out before another man in the home heard the commotion and separated the two. Kiraly then pulled a pocket knife and threatened the man with the knife, police said. The man told Kiraly to leave, at which point Kiraly picked up his two-year-old child and left to go to another Milford residence.

Officers responded to the residence Kiraly had gone to and took custody of him. A family member also responded and took custody of the child.

Kiraly is charged with the following: Criminal attempt to commit murder, risk of injury, strangulation, threatening and reckless endangerment.

Kiraly was held a $250,000 bond to appear in Milford Court on July 24.
