Milford home invasion ends without injury

Milford police arrested a man for an alleged home invasion on Sunday, Sept. 18 at a Hawley Avenue residence.

Police say that when they arrived, they found Michael Buonaiuto, 58, of Milford in the front yard of the home, swinging a broken baseball bat at another man in the yard.

Police determined that Buonaiuto had gotten into the home prior to their arrival on the scene and believe he was there to harm the other man, who had been sleeping inside the home.

According to police, Buonaiuto told the man several times he was going to “kill him” using the baseball bat. The victim managed to get Buonaiuto out of his home and keep him out until police arrived.

Police say the male victim was not injured during the incident, but Buonaiuto managed to cause property damage with the baseball bat at the residence.

Buonaiuto is charged with home invasion, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree attempted assault and violation of a protective order.

Buonaiuto was released on a $50,000 bond and will appear in court on Oct. 11.
