Drug charges were lodged Dec. 18 against a West Haven man who reportedly hid marijuana in his buttocks, police said.

The incident took place at 10:30 p.m. on Wheelers Farms Road near Honeycomb Lane.

While on anti-crime patrol the Milford Police Narcotics Unit observed suspicious activity in a parking lot near Plains Road and the Boston Post Road, according to a police report.

Detectives later conducted a motor vehicle stop near Wheelers Farms Road and the passenger, Linval Dillon, 31, of West Haven, was observed trying to conceal an unknown item on his body and would not comply with detectives when he was told to show his hands, police said.

Detectives used Cedar, the department’s trained narcotics detection K9, to search the vehicle and Dillon. Police said Cedar alerted to the buttocks area of Dillon, where detectives recovered 11 bags of marijuana packaged for resale. Dillon also had 14 bags of heroin in his pocket, police said.

Dillon was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to sell, and interfering with police officers.

Bond was set at $10,000 and Dillon was scheduled to appear in court Jan. 12.
