The Milford Police Department is investigating thefts from vehicles in the areas of Dogwood Place, Housatonic Drive, Eastern Parkway, Saint Andrews Lane, August Drive, Masters Lane, Knollwood Road and Founders Way in Milford.

Police said a majority of the vehicles targeted had been left unlocked. Laptop computers, IPods and money were taken from the vehicles. The thefts appeared to have occurred overnight on Aug. 28 into Aug. 29. Some unlocked vehicles were rummaged through but nothing appeared to be taken.

Police said they encourage residents to keep their car doors locked, remove valuable items from their vehicles, take advantage of outdoor lighting and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to the police department.

A crime advisory message was sent through the “Milford Alerts” system, advising residents of the incidents and encouraging them to report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
