Firetrucks set to roll into Milford for muster
Engine 260 will host the 42nd Annual Engine 260 Antique Fire Apparatus Show & Muster Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Eisenhower Park on North Street. Firefighters, fire engines and firefighting enthusiasts typically number in the hundreds and draw a sizable crowd to the annual event.
The day will start with a parade of antique fire apparatus that will travel from the Liberty Rock Shopping Plaza, 589 Bridgeport Avenue, to Meadowside Road, through Milford Center onto North Street, ending at Eisenhower Park. The motorcade will begin at 9 a.m. and arrive at approximately 9:45 a.m. at the park.
Children can be a firefighter for a day, organizers said, adding that youngsters can put on a helmet and handle a real fire hose. An interactive fire prevention trailer will be on site and firefighters will teach children how to get out of a burning home as part of the stop, drop and roll program.
Fire apparatus and firefighter teams will be competing against each other, showing off their skills and battling for the first place trophy in eight different competitions.
There will be food, a fire-themed flea market and more. Parking will be available at Platt Technical School, with a shuttle to the muster and back.
Admission is free. Proceeds from the refreshment area will be donated to the Milford Recreation Department’s Camp Happiness program for children with special needs.
