Police charged a New Haven woman with larceny and assaulting a police officer Oct. 21 at about 8:30 p.m. following a shoplifting incident at Macy’s.

According to a police report, Dominqiue Aiken, 19, of New Haven, stole approximately $275 worth of merchandise from the store. When police tried to arrest her, Aiken became defiant and struggled with the officers, police said. During the struggle Aiken allegedly kicked one of the officers, and when she was finally handcuffed, she spit on one of the officers.

She was charged with larceny 6th degree, interfering with a police officer and assault on a police officer, and was released from police custody on a promise to appear in court Nov. 17.
