Writers sought for statewide essay contest
Every May since 1963, people in towns and cities across the country have come together to celebrate the contributions of older Americans. Older Americans Month is a chance to show one’s appreciation and support seniors as they continue to enrich and strengthen our communities.
The Connecticut Association of Area Agencies on Aging invites the public to participate in the fourth annual statewide essay contest. The theme for this year’s contest is “Safe Today. Healthy Tomorrow.”
The state Department on Aging will choose winners from each of the five regions in the state with one grand champion chosen from the regional winners.
Essays should be no more than 500 words and include the individual’s name, age, address, phone number and email address (if there is one). Employees of any Area Agency on Aging or DSS are welcome to participate but are not eligible to receive any prizes.
By entering, participants agree their essay will become the property of the Southwestern CT Agency on Aging and will not be returned. SWCAA reserves the right to print and display the essays and photographs of the contest winners.
Essays should be submitted to Southwestern CT Agency on Aging, Gretchen James, 10 Middle St., Bridgeport, CT 06604 or firstname.lastname@example.org by April 30. Winners will be notified May 9.
For more information, call Gretchen James at 203-814-3620 or visit swcaa.org.
