Milford Senior Center offers tax prep help

The Milford Senior Center will host two tax preparation programs this year, the AARP Income Tax Assistance Program and the VITA Program.

The AARP Income Tax Assistance Program provides free income tax preparation assistance for low and middle income taxpayers of all ages with special attention to those 60 and older. The program will run through April 14 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants are required to register by calling 203-877-5131.

Taxpayers should bring with them all information and documents that apply to their 2014 income taxes, including a copy of 2013 income tax return, W-2  and tax statement forms, W-2G, certain gambling winning forms, all 1099 forms, social security benefit statement, original cost of stocks, bonds and mutual holdings sold during 2014, all documents that relate to deductible expenses, such as medical, state income taxes, property taxes, contributions and mortgage interest.

The VITA program provides free income tax preparation for all age and low-income families with earnings of $53,000. The VITA program, associated with the I.R.S. will be offered by TEAM Inc. at the VITA Clinic at the Milford Senior Center, 9 Jepson Drive. This program will run Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. and Mondays 5 to 8 p.m. through April 13.
