Residents can eat at Pop’s Family Restaurant today (Thursday, Sept. 15) and help a Milford teenager recently diagnosed with cancer.

Sean Cleary, 14, has begun an 8- to 12-month chemotherapy treatment at Yale-New Haven Hospital and is preparing for surgeries to remove a tumor. He has Ewing sarcoma, which is a “cancerous tumor that grows in the bones or in the tissue around bones (soft tissue) — often the legs, pelvis, ribs, arms or spine,” according to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital website.

Sean is eager to join friends for his freshman year at Foran High School and get back to his active lifesty of CrossFit and playing football, according to a poster announcing the Pop’s fundraiser.

Diners who mention Sean’s name to their server will see a portion of their bill donated to Sean and his family.

Pop’s is located at 134 Old Gate Lane.

A gofundme page is collecting donations for Sean, also. The page states, “This fundraiser was created to offset costs of medical treatment, supplies and insurance/hospital bills. Most importantly, positive thoughts and prayers for Sean and his mother Trish through this journey.”

The gofundme page can be accessed here.
