The 16th Annual Walnut Beach Arts Festival will be Sunday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Walnut Beach.
This will be the 16th Annual Walnut Beach Arts/Crafts Festival on the green across from Walnut Beach. It is anticipated that this will be one of the best years yet, organizers said. In addition to Connecticut artists, there will be artists from Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts and further.
Schedule of events:
7 a.m.: Registration opens for the Walnut Beach 5K Race. Gather at the Walnut Beach Pavilion to register for the 5th annual Walnut Beach 5K Race. Free ice cream will be given to every runner/walker. There’s a free kid’s run at 8 a.m., and then the official race starts at 8:30 a.m.
10 to 10:15 a.m.: Opening Ceremony. Winner of the Wall of Art contest will be unveiled. The National Anthem will be sung by Wendy Terenzio and, after that, a message from the dignitaries and the winner of the Wall of Art contest will be announced.
The student art contest, now in its 16th year, invites the winner of best in show to paint a mural to be added to the wall of art. This will take place at The Walnut Beach Green at Viscount Drive and East Broadway.
There will be activities throughout the day, including live bands under the pavilion.
