Quilters and tapestry makers welcome to take part in next art show

The Milford Fine Arts Council is preparing for a new show and is looking for modern day quilters and tapestry makers to submit their contemporary designs.

Bold colors, graphic patterns, current designs and unique materials are encouraged.

The show will run March 6 to 28, with a reception Thursday, March 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Milford Fine Arts Center, 40 Railroad Avenue South.

Viewing dates are Wednesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This is a juried show. For consideration, high resolution photos of work, with dimensions, must be sent by email to milfordfac@optonline.net by Feb. 27.

Receiving of selected pieces will be Monday, March 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, March 4, from noon to 2 p.m.

All work must be picked up on Friday, March 28, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

One or two pieces per artist will be accepted. Artist fee is $25 for one piece, $35 for two pieces. Milford Arts Council members receive $5 off total fee. Anyone may join the council at registration, or download a form off the council’s website.

Artist eligibility is as follows: Only original work accepted; limit two entries per person; work must not exceed 90” x 108” (queen size quilt); all items must be ready to hang; all quilts/tapestries must include rods and hooks; all works must be for sale, with 30% commission on sales going to the art council.
