Parade, pub crawl, ghost stories and more at first Hall-O-Weekend

Milford’s downtown businesses are hoping to launch a new annual event with the upcoming Hall-O-Weekend, which will be a weekend filled with Halloween-themed activities downtown, like a costume parade, ghost stories and a pub crawl for older participants.

On Oct. 29 there will be a number of events for the official Hall-O-Weekend.

The fourth annual Milford Trick or Trot 5K Run/Walk will take place at 9 a.m at Lisman Landing, 37 Helwig Street. All proceeds benefit Milford's Beth-El Center homeless shelter and soup kitchen, and people can register by going to

There will also be a costume contest, costume parade, trick or treating, food trucks and more in downtown Milford.

There will be a pub crawl from 1 to 5 p.m. for people 21 years old and older. Participating restaurants will be offering specialty drink and appetizer specials. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by going to When participants register on the green the day of the event, they will receive a free Crawl-A-Ween T-Shirt and a list the participating restaurants.

The costume parade will start at noon, and trick or treating for children at downtown shops will follow.

Everyone is invited to participate in the parade, organizers said. Tickets for the costume contest are on-line at Entry for children 12 and under is free but they need to register. For children over age 12, adults and pets the entry fee is $5. Small prizes will be awarded for various categories: Scariest, cutest, most Halloweeny, best princess, best superhero, best duo and most newsworthy.

There will be a movie at 7 p.m., Hocus Pocus, shown on a huge movie screen on the green.

“We encourage everyone to bring their blankets and chairs, and get take-out from one of the downtown restaurants to have a picnic while watching the movie,” Lynn said.

Cynthia Boynton, who leads a haunted tour downtown, will be telling ghost stories at the gazebo from 6 - 6:30 p.m., and then will be offering her usual Milford Ghost Walks starting at 7 p.m.

A portion of the event proceeds from Hall-O-Weekend will benefit the Milford Arts Council Scholarship Fund. Tickets for Hall-O-Weekend are available at Visit Eventbrite for event details and ticket options.
