The local arts council is gearing up for its next art show, which will focus on trees.
The show dates are June 5 to July 25, with viewing dates of Wednesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A reception will be Thursday, June 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The council will receive entries May 29 from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m. at the Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Avenue. Artists can also call to arrange other drop-off times.
The Visual Arts Committee and Milford Trees present “Trees,” a collaborative show focusing on and celebrating the subject of trees.
Artists are invited to submit work that presents their vision of “the tree.” All mediums, materials and styles (naturalism, abstract, interpretative, etc.) are welcome as well as art using pieces of the tree. Jewelry, sculpture, wall art, etc. are also welcome and encouraged. Subject matter can focus on a specific area of the tree anatomy (i.e. leaf, branch) or the entire tree.
One or two pieces will be accepted per artist. Artist fee is $25 for one piece, $35 for two pieces. Council members receive $5 off the total fee.
Only original pieces will be accepted.
All work should be framed, wired and/or ready to hang.
Items must not exceed 36” x 24” in measurement or 50 pounds in weight.
Sculpture is welcome, but a display stand must be included.
Photography is welcome, but will be juried separately.
All works may be for sale, with 30% commission on sales going to the fine arts council.
