Local VFW announces scholarship essays
Each of the scholarship programs incorporates a patriotic theme. Prizes are progressive at local, district, state and national levels. Entries may earn more than $30,000 to be used to further the student's education.
Patriot’s Pen: This scholarship program is a youth essay open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The theme for this year's essay is “Why I Appreciate America's Veterans.” The deadline for submission to the Post is Nov. 1.
Voice of Democracy: This scholarship program is an oral essay open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The theme for this year's essay is “Why Veterans are Important to our Nation's History and Future.” The deadline for submission to the post is Nov. 1.
