Library’s chess program gets a boost

The Youth Chess Program, launched as a partnership between the Milford's Promise organization, Milford Public Library and Milford Police Union Local 899, recently received a donation for the library's permanent collection.
The donation was presented by Hanon Russell, owner of Russell Enterprises, Inc., a publisher of chess books based in Milford, and one of the largest publishers of chess books in the world.
The Youth Chess Program meets monthly at the library, and is for all levels from kindergarten to high school to play in a relaxed and non-competitive environment.
According to Milford Public Library Director Christine Angeli, “The Youth Chess Program was popular and well-attended from its start. The addition of a dozen new chess books to our collection was a fabulous opportunity to enhance our resources for those interested in learning more about the various aspects of chess.”
