Hersam Acorn Radio’s programming schedule continues to grow and add new programming for the coming weeks.
After quickly becoming one of the top sources for southwestern Connecticut sports play-by-play this fall and winter, Hersam Acorn Radio has added two regular news and entertainment programs — and plans more in the coming months.
“Behind the News,” a look at news around southwestern Connecticut with the reporters who covered it, debuted last Friday, Jan 10. The show is hosted by longtime editors John Kovach and Josh Fisher and airs Fridays at noon on all HersamAcorn.com news sites.
You can listen to archives of all Hersam Acorn Radio programs at soundcloud.com/hersam-acorn-radio.
Hersam Acorn Radio’s first entertainment show, hosted by Rob Adams, Hersam Acorn arts editor Sally Sanders and Steve Coulter, debuts Thursday, Jan. 16, at noon, on Milfordmirror.com.
Hersam Acorn Radio started with a focus on high school sports — and that coverage continues to grow. Last week, Adams, who is managing the online radio station, led the call of Hersam Acorn Radio’s first girls sporting event and first basketball game.
This weeks’ coverage started with a boys hockey doubleheader from Darien on Wednesday, Jan. 15, and continues this week and next with more basketball and Hersam Acorn’s second girls hockey game.
All games can be heard on Milfordmirror.com and the Hersam Acorn’s other 17 news websites across southwestern Connecticut and northern Westchester County, N.Y. All games featuring Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference teams are also broadcast on FCIAC.net. You can listen at your computer or on your iPhone, iPad and Flash-enabled Android devices. Plug your phone into your car stereo or Bluetooth to listen while on the go.
During games, Adams, a longtime Connecticut sports announcer, is joined by Hersam Acorn sports editors and color analysts, including John Kovach, Paul Silverfarb, Chris Kaelin and Josh Fisher.
Along with sports, news and arts programs, Hersam Acorn Radio provides live storm and breaking news coverage. During the first snowstorm of the year, on Thursday and Friday, Jan. 2 and 3, Hersam Acorn Radio provided eight hours of coverage from Greenwich to Ansonia, featuring traffic updates, closings and interviews with officials, first-responders and more.
Several area businesses have also been using Hersam Acorn Radio to promote their businesses. Hersam Acorn will help you write and produce your radio commercials for upcoming broadcasts. To advertise, visit HersamAcorn.com/Advertising.
Hersam Acorn Newspapers has been providing hyper-local news since 1876 — long before the term “hyper-local” existed. Its 18 local news websites get more than 900,000 unique pageviews per month. The printed newspapers are read in more than 60,000 households — with an average household income of $177,033 — in southwestern Connecticut and northern Westchester County.
