First Baptist Clothes Closet provides clothing for those in need

As the season has changed and the need increases for warm clothing, the First Baptist Church reminds residents that its Clothes Closet provides clothes for the needy.

The Clothes Closet, a ministry of the First Baptist Church of Milford, is located at 24 North Street. For information, call the church office 203-878-1178.

The Clothes Closet was originally opened in May, 2002. Clothing and children’s books, gently used, are available for free. The normal hours are on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday hours will begin soon. Donations of new or gently used clothing are received on Tuesdays only. Since January 2016 more than 1,000 people have received clothing of all types.

The new Pastor-Elect, Rev. Horace A. Hough began in July 2016 and has encouraged the extension of the service hours to better meet the needs of the community. Rev. Hough said, "As disciples of Jesus, we are obligated to do all that we can to help those who are in need. Simply opening our Clothes Closet doors one more day a week may provide an extra window of opportunity for someone to have the means to clothe themselves, their family and their children."

The First Baptist Church, located in the historic district at 28 North Street, has been a member of the Milford Community since 1893.
