The Milford Boys & Girls Club has hired a new program coordinator, Megan Lenzzo. Lenzzo will assist in directing the summer program, as well as additional programs hosted at the club.
Lenzzo comes to Milford with years of Boys & Girls Club experience. Growing up, she was a member at the Boys & Girls Club of Wallingford. She said the club was a huge part of her life and helped her develop into the person she is today. There she learned about the organization, what it does and how impactful it can be to members and their families.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Southern Connecticut State University and volunteered her time to many local and national non-profits, including the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden, National Civilian Community Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) and CT Campus Compact. She said she enjoyed her positions within the organizations, but knew her passion was for the Boys & Girls Club of America.
Her focus will be strengthening the teen center, ensuring that teens have a fun and safe place to go to when they are not in school. Lenzzo has been overseeing and developing teen programming and already implemented many changes.
“The Club is thrilled to welcome Megan,” said Megan Altomare, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Milford. “Her personality, dedication and hands-on work ethic are beneficial in all aspects of the club’s programs and events. Her passion for the club and her personal experiences within the movement make me confident that she will definitely help to change many lives here in the Milford community.”
The Boys & Girls Club of Milford will host an open house on Thursday, May 21, where residents can meet Lenzzo and learn about the teen center at 14 Benham Avenue. For more information, call 203-713-8056.
