Art show celebrates connection between people and pets
Celebrating the special connection between art and animals, The Milford Fine Arts Council invites artists to submit portraits of animals, with or without their human counterparts.
All mediums are welcome: Paintings, drawings, mixed media, photography, graphic design and sculpture.
Artists are encouraged to include a few words stating what inspired the work.
Show dates are May 6 to June 30, with viewing Wednesdays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Receiving dates are Monday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m., or call to make other arrangements. Artwork may be picked up on June 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded Saturday, May 16.
One or two pieces will be accepted per artist. The fee is $25 for one piece, $35 for two pieces.
Fine Arts members receive $5 off their total fee.
Anyone may join the Milford Arts Council at registration or download a form off the website: Single membership is $25, family is $50.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Milford Animal Control.
Only original pieces will be accepted.
All work should be recently completed and should be framed and wired and/or ready to hang.
Items must not exceed 36”x24” in measurement or 50 pounds.
Sculpture and three dimensional works are welcome but a display stand must be provided.
All works may be for sale, and there is a 30% commission on sales to the arts council.
