The Milford Arts Council Visual Arts Committee will present the artwork of Barbara Levine, abstract naturalist.
There will be a reception Thursday, May 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Avenue.
Viewing dates are Wednesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Her work is influenced by the natural world and interpretation through close observation, exploring the drama of the intimate relationship between the object and the observer.
She has worked as both painter and tapestry weaver.
“Nature is the ultimate model of creative expression,” she said. “In my effort to explore the possibilities for abstract interpretation of the minute forms, patterns and colors revealed to me, I have at various times turned to the complex patterns of microscopic phenomena for thematic inspiration in my work.”
Levine will return on May 30 at 7 p.m. for a small pre-show reception at the music event “Juke Joint Jazz,” where her husband, Michael, will perform.
Ticket information to the May 30 jazz performance is available at milfordarts.org.
