The City of Milford has partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration\u2019s CT District Office, the Greater New Haven Score Chapter and the Connecticut Procurement Technical Assistance Program to offer free seminars for small business owners and those thinking about entering the world of entrepreneurship. A similar series was held in the fall with great success, city officials said. This will be a four-part series ranging in topics from starting your own business to how to utilize marketing and networking techniques to help grow your small business. \u201cSmall businesses are the lifeblood of any local community; this is an incredible opportunity for Milford entrepreneurs to better understand what it takes to be successful," said Mayor Benjamin Blake. All workshops will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Milford Public Library (Program Room), 57 New Haven Avenue. Tuesday, September 1: \u00a0How to Start Your Own Business\/ABCs of Business Plan: Have you ever thought about starting a business? This seminar will cover topics such as choosing a business name\/structure, licensing, registrations, the importance of the business plan, etc. Wednesday, September 9: Marketing and Networking Techniques to Help Grow Your Small Business: Topics covered will be traditional marketing, social media, potential pitfalls, how to determine if your time and money is well spent. Wednesday, September 16: How to Finance Your Small Business. Get pointers from the SBA about SBA\u2019s guaranteed loan program and micro-loan program as well as other lending programs. Wednesday October 28: Navigating and Searching for Bids\/How to Prepare a Bid Package: This seminar will cover where you need to be registered to do business with the State of Connecticut and Federal Government as well as where to find the bids. Also covered will be State and Federal set-aside programs.
