NEW HAVEN >> The March of Dimes’ Connecticut/Western MA Market will hold its 9th annual Elm City Legends awards event to honor accomplishments of individuals from Greater New Haven at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Anthony’s Ocean View, according to a release. This year’s 2017 Elm City Legends awards go to: Steve Parker, of the Connecticut Radio Network; Lynn Sellers, Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital NNICU; Len Matteo, of EDGE Technology Services; and Barbara DeNicola, of Hamden, the release said. Paul Fusco, a Hamden native and creator of the television show “ALF,” was slated to be one of the honorees this year, but had to decline, as an “ALF” feature movie is under production, the release said. However, Fusco plans to record a video segment of ALF congratulating this year’s honorees, two of whom are from Hamden, as well as donating ALF memorabilia to the event’s auction, the release said. The event will include a buffet-style dinner, silent auction, and more, to benefit the March of Dimes. Keith Kountz of WTNH News 8 will serve as the emcee, the release said. Tables of 10 are available for $800, and individual seats are $85 per person. Other ways to support this important cause include becoming a corporate sponsor, placing an ad in the program, donating an item to the auction, or making a 100 percent tax deductible “Fund the Mission” gift, the release noted.
