Public listener supported radio WPKN 89.5 FM will bring you Backstage Buzz with co hosts Dolly Curtis of Easton and Leo Meyer of Milford in discussion with Kurt Anderson on Sunday Nov. 15, at 10 p.m. Kurt Anderson is the general manager of WMNR classical radio studios in Monroe and broadcasting throughout Connecticut and New York for decades. He discusses his many years at WMNR and the scope of its programming, which is widely appreciated. Anderson speaks of his celebrated father, Leroy Anderson, who has been described as "one of the great American masters of light orchestral music." Many of these light concert pieces were introduced by the Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of Arthur Fiedler. Much of Leroy Anderson's music is endeared to the public such as Sleigh Ride and the Syncopated Clock, which is known as the "typewriter song" and Blue Tango. Kurt Anderson is trained as a conductor himself and is called on to conduct his father's light orchestral music in orchestras throughout Connecticut and as far reaching as Twin Falls, Idaho. He conducted his father's Sleigh Ride with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra on tour in Bridgeport at the Harbor Yard Arena. Backstage Buzz will also air on WMNR 89.5 on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 10 p.m. as well as on youtube under Backstage Buzz, The Radio Show. It is local information about people and music the audience has listened to for many years.
