A man in his 20s was in critical condition Tuesday morning after being shot in this neighborhood at Capitol Avenue and James Street in Hartford early Tuesday, police said.

HARTFORD — Police say they are investigating a shooting near the West Hartford line that left a man in critical condition early Tuesday.
Officers were called around 1:50 a.m. to the 1000 block of Capitol Avenue after the city's ShotSpotter system registered gunfire, Hartford Police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said.
At the scene, police found a man in his 20s "suffering from a gunshot wound," Boisvert said. The shooting happened outside a building at the intersection with James Street.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Boisvert said. He remained so as of Tuesday evening.
Police don't have a motive for the shooting, Boisvert said. The department's major crimes and crime scene divisions are investigating.
