Yankee Fisherman, Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016

We will have a breaking update on the last day of the partial closure of the Farmington River on Yankee Fisherman Thursday at 1 p.m. at HAN.Network.

Even with water levels low, there are places to fish and trout to catch. We will have an update, and check out catches including a lunker, with  Fly Fishing Adventures with David Schumacher Photography on Yankee Fisherman on the HAN Network Thursday at 1 p.m.

Temperatures are dropping, but rain still isn't falling. In addition to the Farmington, there will be word later today about the extension of a closure at the mouth of Furnace Brook on the Housatonic River that, by rule, is scheduled to expire today.

Water levels remain low, so exercise care.

Anglers can, and are, helping science and we return to the R/V Ocearch off Long Island to discuss that with scientists and charter captains.

We’ll also remember the late Soundkeeper and state representative Terry Backer, with the dedication of an organic community farm in his honor in Stratford.

Yankee Fisherman, presented by The Dock Shop, airs Thursdays at 1 p.m. on the HAN Network. Previous episodes can be watched on demand or listened to as a podcast.
