YMCA offers pre-school care
Pre-school registration — The Woodruff Family YMCA has begun registration for the 2012-2013 school year pre-school program. Bring a copy of current medical forms to register. The YMCA pre-school, located at 631 Orange Ave is a state licensed, NAEYC certified program designed to prepare 3- or 4-year-olds for kindergarten.
This YMCA pre-school program focuses on literacy and learning through exploration. The YMCA pre-school includes swimming, field trips and special events, music and movement, sight word recognition and guided reading practices, development of fine and gross motor skills and language development-focusing on the reading, writing, listening, and speaking connections.
The pre-school is offered for 3-year-olds on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and for 4-year-olds on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both programs offer extended care hours from 1 to 5:30 p.m. The Y's full-day 5 days per week pre-school for 3 and 4 year olds is from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Fall session — Registration for the Fall Session I programs at the Woodruff Family YMCA has begun. Classes are offered 8 weeks from Sept. 4 - Oct. 27. Classes and programs are being offered for all age groups, from children age 6 months to programs for seniors.
The YMCA is offering new programs for the fall session. TRX® Suspension exercise classes are being offered with free trail classes offered the week of Sept. 4. TRX Suspension Training requires the use of the TRX® Suspension Trainer™, a highly portable performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user's bodyweight to enable hundreds of exercises that can be instantly scaled for any user to reach any fitness or training goal. Youth Fit Zone classes are available for ages 6-14. These classes include Boot Camp on Mondays at 5 p.m., yoga on Tuesdays at 5 p.m., indoor cycling on Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m., and Zumbatomic on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. For more information contact Amanda Berry, at 878-6501 or email@example.com.
Youth Endurance Swim Club is designed for those swimmers who have completed all the levels of the YMCA lesson program through porpoise and who are 10-14 years old. Classes are offered two days per week, Sunday 12:15-1:15 p.m. and Wednesday 7-8 p.m. Ultimate Frisbee Club is a cross between soccer and football. Two teams vie for a Frisbee as teammates throw it, trying to advance it to one end of the field to the other. The club program is offered Monday and Wednesday from 4-5 p.m. for ages 8-12, 5-6 p.m. for ages 13-17, and 6-7 p.m. for 18 and older. Sports Adventure is for 8-12 year olds and offered on Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon or 12:30-1:30 p.m. Participants will learn the skills and conditioning for basketball, soccer and basketball. Dancers Workshop is for 8-12 years olds and offered on Thursdays from 5-5:45 p.m. or Saturdays from 1:45-2:30 p.m. Fundamentals of dance, ballet, jazz and tap will be taught. Child care registration — Registration for Woodruff Family YMCA 2012-2013 elementary age before and after school childcare and middle school after school program is currently open. The YMCA offers Before and After school child care in six Milford elementary schools. These programs are licensed by the state and are activity and recreation based. Each site is assigned specific days to come swim at the YMCA. Before school hours are from 7:15 a.m. to the start of school, after school hours begin with school dismissal to 6 p.m.
The middle school after school program is held at the YMCA from 2:30-6 p.m. Transportation is provided from Harborside, East Shore and the West Shore middle schools. The youth engage in homework activity, sports and fitness, snack time, arts and crafts, swimming and more.
