WOODBRIDGE — Police today identified the man found dead on Rimmon Road Wednesday as a New Haven resident.

Alan Robinson Jr, 37, no specific address given, was found lying in the road on Rimmon Road in the area between Deer Run Road and Robin roads just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, police said in a statement.

The investigation into the homicide prompted a brief lockdown Wednesday at nearby schools.

The investigation is still ongoing. The Office of the Chief State Medical examiner said Robinson was shot in the head, torso and extremity.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Woodbridge police.

On Wednesday, Woodbridge police and the State Police Major Crime Squad blocked off Rimmon Road as they investigated the death. The state’s attorney’s office was represented at the crime scene, as was the Milford Police Department.

Police declined to say how the man was killed or whether they believed he was killed there or dumped.

Woodbridge Police Chief Frank Cappiello said an officer on patrol was notified at 9:58 a.m. that there was a body in the roadway on Rimmon Road and police located the victim between Dear Run and Robin roads.

Police issued a request to neighboring police departments to be on the lookout for a vehicle that may have been involved in the homicide, according to police broadcasts in New Haven.

No suspect was in custody, Cappiello said Wednesday, but the area was deemed safe.
