Woodbridge offers farmers leases on fields for planting

WOODBRIDGE — Residents can lease open fields for this year’s planting “at a very modest price,” the town said in a written release.

The town owns several parcels, suitable for haying or planting of crops such as silage corn, the release said.

Interested town farmers can call Gerry Shaw, executive assistant to the Board of Selectmen, at 203-389-3401 by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 10, the release said.

The selectmen will decide on the leases Feb. 12.

If more than one farmer is interested in a specific field, decision will be made by lottery, it said.
