A female employee was seriously injured after her right hand became trapped in machinery at the Schick Manufacturing facility, located at 10 Leighton Rd. in Milford, Thursday morning.

Fire dispatch received a 911 call at 9:23 a.m., reporting the incident. Firefighters were immediately dispatched and quickly arrived and found the employee's right hand entangled in the manufacturing equipment.

Milford fire paramedics applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding while also providing an advanced level of patient care, said Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizzi.

“Firefighters worked diligently for 17 minutes and managed to free the employee’s hand from the machine,” Fabrizi said.

The woman was then transported to Yale New Haven Trauma Center by Milford Fire Medic 1. Her condition is currently unknown, Fabrizi said.

Schick officials are working with an Occupational Safety and Health Administration representative to investigate the incident.
