Woman charged with trying to use counterfeit $100 at Big Lots

A New York woman who tried to use counterfeit money to buy items at Big Lots in Milford was caught by police and charged with a number of offenses.

According to police, on Thursday, Christina Kipp, 22, of Jamaica Queens, N.Y., tried to make a purchase at Big Lots at Turnp9ike Square using a fake $100 bill.

When police arrived on the scene, the woman fled on foot from the store and was apprehended a short distance away. Police confirmed the bill was counterfeit and contacted the Secret Service Department. Subsequent her arrest, police learned of an outstanding warrant for Kipp held by the New York Police Department.

She was charged with interfering with police, breach of peace, forgery in the first degree, criminal attempt at larceny. Bond was set at $100,000, and she was held in police custody.
