Walnut Beach art strolls return to Milford next week

MILFORD — In yet another sign of pre-COVID normalcy returning, the Third Thursday Theme Nights are returning to Walnut Beach next week. The summer series begins on June 17.

“We began the Third Thursday art stroll 10 years ago when we had four art galleries in the neighborhood,” said Christina Pritchard, a member of the Walnut Beach Arts and Business Association. “Through the years, we have new and different businesses and fewer galleries, so we continue our event. However, it has evolved over the years.”

On June 17, the art stroll runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and features country music with the band Shot Down Duo.

The July 15 stroll will feature the Roylety Steel Pan Band Duo performing calypso music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Storytime Bob will perform Woodstock in August, and the series ends Sept. 16 with a soul performance by the TravisD Trio.

Brian Smith will host a DJ dance party following the live music performances each night.

The actual stroll portion of the monthly art strolls will be from the corner of Naugatuck Ave. and Broadway up to Monroe Street. The events also will include special offerings at local businesses, food trucks, various food and drink options and other family activities.

“Participating businesses will remain open for after-hours shopping and host light hors d'oeuvres” said Pritchard. “People enjoy the event. It is a lively and nice time for the community to catch up and see what is new in the neighborhood.”
