Veterans can get free dental care
HARTFORD >> Eight state Aspen Dental practices will open their doors on Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 24, to provide free dental care for veterans.
The initiative is part of a nationwide drive involving about 450 offices to provide services to thousands of veterans.
Free dental care will be available for local veterans in Hamden, Meriden, Waterbury, Manchester, Farmington, Torrington, Bristol and Waterford.
Local veterans can call 844-AspenHMM to schedule an appointment at a participating office. Appointments are required and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Of the more than 21 million veterans across the U.S., fewer than 10 million are enrolled for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health benefits, which for many does not include dental care, and more than 1.2 million lack health insurance.
The June 24 Day of Service will be Aspen Dental’s fourth annual, and is the largest single-day oral health initiative targeted at veterans.
The offer is part of Aspen Dental’s Healthy Mouth Movement.
