Wine tasting — Fellowship, fine wines and ales, artisan cheese and gourmet food at Lauralton Hall Friday, Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Sample and learn about wines and boutique beers from the experts in the field — the nuances of flavors that go into each wine or lager, and even the wine/ale-making processes. November 15 and 16

Craft fair — The Women's Fellowship of the First United Church of Christ (Congregational) will hold its Holiday Craft Fair Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 34 West Main Street, near the lower duck pond. Handmade and unique crafts including jewelry, knitted items, baby items, dog toys, and Christmas ornaments will be offered. A children's craft area, face painting, and pumpkin painting activities are included.

Sunday, November 16

Toys for Tots breakfast — The Masons will hold a breakfast Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Masonic Hall, 59 Broad Street from 8 to 10:30 a.m. All proceeds will go to the Milford Fire Department’s Toys for Tots campaign. Please do not bring toys. Friday, November 21

Movie night — On Friday, Nov. 21, The United Church of Christ in Devon will show the movie “Maleficent.” According to the new plot, Maleficent was once a fairy, with wings, who lived peacefully in the kingdom of fairies. But, she fell in love with a human and that’s where everything went wrong. Rated PG. Doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner is 6 to 7 p.m. and includes a hot dog, chips, dessert, beverage and unlimited fresh popcorn. Dinner is $6, Ages 3-5 $3, under 3 is free. The movie follows and is free at the United Church of Christ in Devon, 30 Ormond Street.

Christmas Bazaar — Christ the Redeemer Church Ladies Guild, 325 Oronoque Road, is seeking vendors for its annual Christmas Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vendor tables are available for $30. For further information, call Mary Ellen, 203-874-6369.

Holiday dinner, auction — St. Mary Guild of Milford will hold their Annual Holiday Dinner and Auction Saturday, Nov. 22 in the Saint Mary School auditorium.  Featured will be a catered dinner including wine, beer, soda, coffee and dessert. Tickets are $25. Co-chairpersons Janet Montalbano and Ellen Richetelli announced there will be both silent and live auctions, door prizes and a raffle. The proceeds help keep their scholarship program running for girls in the St. Mary Parish.

Book discussion — The Morning Book Discussion Group will meet Thursday, Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m. at the Ellen Aftamonow Woodmont Library, 16 Dixon Street. The book for December is Care and Management of Lies, by Jacqueline Winspear. The book for January is Invisible Wall, by Harry Bernstein. The group meets the first Thursday monthly. All are welcome. Christmas spectacular — The public is invited to the Saint Ann Christmas Spectacular on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Center, 499 Naugatuck Avenue. Visitors will enter a charming Dickens Village where talented crafters will offer their wares and Victorian-clad choristers will carol through the lanes. Christmas fair — The United Church of Christ in Devon at the corner or Pequot and Ormond Streets will hold its 73rd annual Christmas fair Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Handmade gifts, personalized ornaments, baked goods, tea cup raffle, pictures with Santa, tag sale and cookie walk. Goods, services auction — Saint Gabriel School will present its 24th Annual Goods & Services Auction Saturday, Dec. 6, at Vazzano’s Four Seasons, 337 Kenyon Street, Stratford. A silent auction will start at 6 p.m., followed by a live auction at 8:15 p.m. Participants can bid on vacation packages, tickets to area attractions, theater and sporting events, jewelry, restaurant gift certificates and more. Tickets are $45 per person and include one bidder number, two drink tickets, dinner and non-alcoholic beverages. A cash bar is available. Christmas Bazaar — Saturday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wildermere Beach Church,133 Broadway, Christmas Bazaar & Cookie Stroll featuring the Wildermere Beach Tinsel Cafe and Santa's Craft Workshop.
