Tribute concert — A tribute concert featuring the Unexpected Boys, music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, will take place a the Veterans Memorial Auditorium at the Parsons Complex October 17. Masquerade ball — The Literacy Center of Milford will host a masquerade ball, to the rhythmic sounds of Ruby and the Diamond Kings band, at the Costa-Azzurra Restaurant, 72 Broadway in Milford, on Oct. 17, from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $50, which includes dinner and dancing, a live auction and raffle, a masquerade contest for best mask/best themed couple/single, and more. Movie Night — This month's move, Friday, Oct. 17, is The Lego Movie at the United Church of Christ in Devon, 30 Ormond Street, Milford (Devon Section). Doors open at 6 p.m. Dinner is 6 to 7 p.m. and includes a hot dog, chips, dessert, beverage and unlimited fresh popped popcorn. Dinner is $6, Ages 3-5 $3, under 3 is free. The movie follows and is free.

Retail 101 — Retail 101 is returning to Jonathan Law Oct. 17, 18 and 19 to help support Jonathan Law's Post Prom. Retail 101 offers deals on brand name men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, from $5 to $25. Visa M|C and cash accepted. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Jonathan Law High School Post Prom: The sale will be in the old gym.

Fall festival and cars — Platt Technical High School will hold its annual Fall Festival and Car Cruise Fundraiser Event, Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 600 Orange Avenue.
Sunday, October 19
Pet blessing — A “Blessing of the Animals” will take place Sunday, Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Woodmont United Church of Christ, 1000 New Haven Avenue. Well-mannered creatures of any kind invited. Donations made during the service will support the Milford Animal Shelter. This is a worship service. Pets must be on leashes or in carriers. Large animals will be blessed on the church lawn. Masons breakfast — The Milford Masonic Family will present a breakfast Sunday, Oct. 19, at the Masonic Hall, 59 Broad Street in Milford from 8 to 10:30 a.m. For a donation of $8 per person you may select either Fried or Scrambled Eggs, Omelets, Pancakes or French Toast, and Bacon or Sausage. There will also be available potatoes, Toast, Orange Juice, and Coffee, or Tea. Special prices for families with young children. Viva Italy — Visit the Milford Public Library on Monday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. for Viva Italy: A Musical Tour with Enzo Boscarino. Boscarino, originally of Siracusa, will serenade his audience with traditional Italian music from Liguria (Sanremo, Genova), Veneto (Venezia), down the peninsula through Tuscany (Firenze), Lazio (Roma), Campania (Napoli, Sorrento) and the islands of Sicily and Sardegna, offering historical and cultural notes seasoned with good humor. Boscarino left Italy at the age of 21 to pursue his education in the United States and now teaches at Central Connecticut State University and St. Joseph's College. A poet, scholar, fencing master, linguist, singer and guitarist, Boscarino has been dubbed “a true Renaissance Man" by Martha's Vineyard Gazette. Free.

Trick or Trot run — The 3rd Annual Milford Trick or Trot 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Beth-El Center will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25. Sign in begins at 7:30 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m. from Lisman Landing in Downtown Milford. Wear a Halloween costume. Fee is $25 per person for advanced registration/$30 same day. Walking tour — The Milford Historical Society will sponsor its second walking tour of the Borough of Woodmont on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. as part of its ongoing observances of Milford’s 375th Anniversary. Participants are asked to meet at the Adam’s Parking Lot, 1391 New Haven Avenue. The Milford Bank will provide water for the walkers. Witch parade — For the 8th year in a row the Walnut Beach Witch will appear on Halloween. The event, hosted by the Walnut Beach Business Association, begins at 5 p.m. near the corner of Naugatuck Avenue and Broadway. The Walnut Beach Creamery will be giving away ice cream to anyone who comes in costume while supplies last. A DJ, face painter and fortune teller will be there between 5 and 7 p.m. At 6 p.m. the Walnut Beach Witch appears in the doorway of the Walnut Beach Creamery to lead a spooky parade around the block with local businesses giving away candy. Bring a bell to scare away the bad spirits. Have your picture taken with the Walnut Beach Witch. The event is free. Kerry Boys — The Kerry Boys have performed at countless fairs and Irish festivals around the Northeast, and will perform at the Milford Fine Arts Council Oct. 31.
