Two men wearing hooded shirts and brandishing a handgun reportedly robbed two people walking on Gulf Street in the early morning hours Saturday.

Police said the robbery took place at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, on Gulf Street near Snug Harbor Raod.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that the two victims were walking in the area when they were approached by two males wearing hooded shirts,” said Police Spokesman Jeff Nielsen. “One of the males brandished a handgun during the incident. The suspects took personal property from the victims and fled the area, last seen heading northbound on Gulf Street towards New Haven Avenue.”

A police K9 team conducted a search of the area which terminated in the area of Bedford Street.

“No one was injured during the incident,” Nielsen said.

The suspects are described as males possibly in their early to late teens, wearing dark jeans and dark zipped up hooded jackets.

A message regarding the incident was sent to residents and businesses in the area through the Milford Alerts System. Police have increased patrols in the area.
