MILFORD — A man and woman were each charged with assaulting an officer and other charges early Sunday at a Milford bar, according to the police department.

Officers were called to Stonebridge Restaurant on Daniels Street at 1 a.m. Sunday to help the bar close down. At that time, officers saw Dinsdale Brown, 25, of Ansonia, trying to get back into the bar after being thrown out, the police department said in a news release.

Police said Brown started to fight with officers and resisted arrest. During the altercation, a woman later identified as 24-year-old Taylor Healey, of Derby, jumped onto the back of an officer and “violently scratched and clawed the officer,” according to police.

Police put handcuffs on Healey, that she managed to pull out of, and she started to fight with officers. Police were able to secure her and put her into a police cruiser, the police department said.

Officers suffered minor injuries from the incident, according to the police department.

Brown and Healey were each charged with second-degree breach of peace, assault on a police officer and interfering with an officer. Brown was additionally charged with third-degree assault.

The two were each held on $5,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 23.
