Traffic detoured on Milford-West Haven line for sewer work

The City of Milford is in the process of installing sanitary sewers to serve approximately 25 residential and commercial properties on Rosemary Court, Grove Street and New Haven Avenue (Rte. 162) between Anderson Avenue and the Milford-West Haven town line at the Oyster River.

The existing detour that was used for the State of Connecticut's emergency repairs to the Route 162 Bridge over the Oyster River at the Milford and West Haven town line will be continued in operation Monday through Friday until Aug. 26 between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The road will be closed to through traffic, or reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic during the construction period. The Milford Police Department has advised motorists to expect delays.

The eastbound traffic detour is as follows:

Route 162 left onto Anderson Avenue; Anderson Avenue right onto Merwin Avenue; Merwin Avenue right onto Oxford Road; Oxford Road to the West Haven town line continued onto West Haven Woodmont Road; West Haven Woodmont Road left onto Route 162.

The westbound traffic detour is the same as the eastbound detour, but in reverse order.

The roadways that comprise the detours will experience increased traffic and may result in some delays.
