Everybody knows that Fourth of July weekend is all about scarfing down hot dogs, but for Torrington man Nick Wehry, he took things a little more seriously than the rest of us.
Wehry, 30, was one of the 33 participants who took the stage alongside hot-dog-eating-legend Joey Chestnut for the The Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. Unfortunately, he was no match for the human-vacuum Chestnut, but he did place 6th overall in the competition with a respectable 36 dogs eaten. Chestnut, meanwhile, notched his 12th championship after eating 71.
