There is still time to submit entries for Milford's 375th Time Capsule, with submissions being accepted through the first week of October.
The capsule internment date is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. in front of Parsons Government Center.
The rain date is Oct. 16 at the same time and location.
To date, the committee has had great success identifying potential locations, markers, and collecting items for the capsule.
Two potential locations have been identified and are currently under review through “Call Before You Dig.”
Two donated items will serve as markers for the time capsule, including a grinding wheel from the original Fowler Mill and a Milford Marble boulder, currently at Connecticut Stone for grinding and engraving.
The committee is grateful to Alfred Benjamin, Tim Chaucher's Maritime Museum and for these donations, as well as Tyra Della Croce for the grinding and engraving.
Additional thanks go to Norwalk Vault, which is donating the burial vault, Jim Mallico, who has volunteered to dig the “capsule hole,” and Dora Kubek who has volunteered to record all submissions to be filed with the City Clerk.
The Time Capsule will be opened in 25 years, upon Milford's 400th Anniversary and submissions should reflect a nostalgic or historical value.
The committee is still welcoming submissions through October 10: Letters, posters, photographs, and recordings are especially requested.
Collection locations for Time Capsule submissions are located at Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Avenue; George J. Smith Building, 247 Broad Street; and City Hall, 110 River Street.
