Three generations

Former Judge of Probate Robert Carangelo swore his son John in for a second term as Orange's Probate Judge.

The senior Carangelo smiled as his son raised his right hand.

"This is quite an honor to swear my son in," the elder Carangelo said.

He went on to point out that John followed in his footsteps as Judge of Probate. The elder served as the Orange Judge of Probate for 10 years before John took over.

"He's doing a good job too," the senior Carangelo said.

Judge Carangelo pledged to do right by the residents.

"I promise to represent the residents of Orange with honesty, integrity and compassion," he said.

John is an attorney with the Law Officers of Lawrence A. Levinson in New Haven. He practices general law. He is a graduate of Quinnipiac School of Law and Syracuse University.

John has been involved in keeping the Probate Court local.

"Right now we're in limbo," he said explaining that last June the Probate Court Association voted down the proposed forced consolidation. Since then, John said , they have been waiting to hear from the CT. Bar Assoc on its view.

Carangelo said he enjoys serving the residents of Orange.

"This is very rewarding. I have the ability to help families in tough times. I can make a real difference. I love doing this," he said.
