Theme of upcoming art show is 'bridges'
The Milford Fine Arts Council and Bridges are collaborating on Bridges, a themed art show highlighting the many interpretations of bridges, from the literal to the symbolic, in two and three dimensions.
Bridges… A Community Support System was founded in 1957, providing services and support to families, children and adults dealing with mental health and addiction issues.
Through their many programs and services, thousands of people have found a “bridge” to recovery, art show organizers said.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and this show has been organized to help recognize the importance of treatment and recovery.
From the literal image of a covered bridge to the expressive image of helping hands to the symbolic image of a chrysalis to a butterfly, artists may interpret the bridges theme in any way imaginable. Incorporation or inclusion of the new Bridges or Folks on Spokes logos, provided on Bridges’ website, is also welcomed, but not a requirement.
Receiving will be Tuesday, June 4 to Thursday, June 6, from noon to 5 p.m. Call the Milford Fine Arts Center (MFAC) if other arrangements are needed. One or two pieces will be accepted per artist.
The entry fee is $25 for one piece, $35 for two pieces. MFAC members receive $5 off total fee. Anyone may join MFAC at registration, or download a form on the website: Single membership is $25, family is $50.
