Milford Scouts will host the Thanks-4-Giving food drive this weekend.

The collection will start Friday, Nov. 15, and run through noon on Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Wasson Field parking lot on West Main Street behind Milford's Parson's Complex.

Milford Scouts will collect and sort food over a 48-hour period for distribution to the area’s less fortunate.

Troop 1 will host the event with the help of numerous local Girl and Boy Scout troops.

The Scouts will camp out at Milford's Wasson Field over two days, collecting and sorting food donations from residents, and staffing tables at local supermarkets. They will collect frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items and monetary donations.

The collection is expected to help about 300 Milford families with Thanksgiving meals, as well as the Beth El Shelter and Milford Food Bank and various other food distribution charities.

Over the last nine years, Milford Scouts have collected more than 70,000 pounds of food and 1,600 turkeys; and received more than $10,000 for the cause.

Individuals can drop off food or money now at any branch of The Milford Bank or visit one of the drop off points this weekend, or one of Milford's Stop & Shops, ShopRite or Adams Supermarkets.
