Suspicious encounter: Motorist told woman a child was missing

The Milford Police Department is investigating a suspicious encounter complaint in the area of Melba Street and Atwater Street in Milford Friday morning.

On September 13 at about 7:55 am, an adult and child were walking to the bus stop at Melba Street/Atwater Street. A vehicle approached them and asked if they had seen a specific person in the area. The passenger in the vehicle claimed she was the parent of the person they were referencing. The adult with the child then alerted the people in the vehicle he was contacting the police and they left the area.

The operator of the vehicle is described as a black female. The passenger is described as a white female with short blond hair. The vehicle is described as a maroon Subaru Outback station wagon with no further information at this time.

Police have increased patrols in the area and are working with school officials.
