Suspicious backpack deemed non-threatening: Personal effects found inside
UPDATE: A suspicious backpack left on a public transportation bus in Milford has been deemed non-threatening by the Connecticut State Police bomb squad. They found personal effects inside the backpack.
Just before 8 a.m. today, the Milford Police Department received a complaint regarding a suspicious backpack left unattended on a public transportation bus traveling on Bridgeport Avenue near Seemans Lane.
Occupants of the bus were evacuated. Milford Police Department, Milford Fire Department and the Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit/Bomb Squad were called to the scene.
Area businesses were evacuated and no traffic was permitted in the area during the investigation. Meadowside Elementary School was in a lockout, with all occupants remaining in the building and a police officer stationed at the school.
