• This summer KT Glusac, class of 2017, working with a Hamilton College professor of philosophy Marianne Janack, will travel throughout New York state, living with and researching a variety of communal societies until mid-August. Her research is funded through a Levitt Center grant. She is a graduate Amity Regional High School.

Her major is French.

“I hope to gain a better understanding about what it means to be a community, why people gravitate towards them, and how communal living can change lives for the better,” said Glusac.

Glusac will visit 11 communities this summer including a Quaker village, a Summer Socialist colony, an artist’s colony, an intergenerational elder-care community, chapters of the Twelve Tribes spiritual community, a student co-op and a farm cooperative.

• Local students who have reserved places as freshmen at SUNY Oswego include Allyson M. Tine of Bethany, undeclared major; and Jenna C. Caron of Milford, who intends to major in meteorology.

• The following Milford residents recently graduated from the Quinnipiac University School of Law: Ani Desilets, Nicholas Lombard, Samantha Nantel, Christopher Satti.

• The following students have been named to the dean’s list at the University of New Hampshire for the spring semester of the 2015-2016 academic year: Erin O’Shea of Milford earned honors; Lawson Martinez of Milford earned highest honors; Faye DiBella of Milford earned high honors; Kristen Brown of Milford earned highest honors.

• Samantha Rozmus, of Milford, graduated with a Bachelor of Science during commencement exercises Aug. 5 at Coastal Carolina University.

• Jake Mastrianna of Milford, graduated May 8 from Nichols College with a BSBA.

• Melissa Padilla of Milford and Jonathan Gelernter of Woodbridge were on the dean’s list at Binghamton University for the spring 2016 semester.

• Kevin Griffin of Milford earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May 2016.

• Amanda Meade, Eastern Connecticut State University class of 2017 of Orange, participated in a school global field course on creative writing course in Florence, Italy, June 23-July 28. Meade’s major is communication.

• SUNY Oswego has awarded Destination Oswego Scholarships of $5,000-$9,000 a year to Allyson Tine of Bethany, undeclared major; and Jenna Caron of Milford, majoring in meteorology, for the fall.
