Striking workers brave cold as they wait for latest news in contract battle
Stirking workers at West River Health Care huddled near a fire Monday afternoon as they awaited word about returning to their jobs.
Company owner HealthBridge was instructed by a judge to return the workers to their posts at the salaries and benefits they earned before a contract battle began last year. The company fought the ruling, but this week Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg denied HealthBridge’s petition, meaning the company was required to let the employees go back to work.
A union spokeswoman on Tuesday said HealthBridge has not arranged for the workers to return to their jobs, and she expected the company might make another appeal to the Supreme Court.
