Staneski backs exercises to honor state's veterans

State Rep. Pam Staneski (Milford & Orange) voiced strong support for a proposal to require the Department of Veterans' Affairs to hold suitable exercises in the Veterans' Home annually on November 11 to recognize resident veterans for their military service, according to a press release to the local media.
Currently, there is no official observance of Veterans' Day at the Rocky Hill Veterans' home.
Last month, Staneski toured the Rocky Hill Veterans' home to get feedback from veterans living on the campus and the staff. There are 217 residents that live on the Rocky Hill Veterans Home campus, with 117 in the hospital on campus.
“The brave men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom deserve an opportunity to participate in the Veterans' Day celebrations, especially at the Veterans home,” said Rep. Staneski.
The bill, HB-5110, now heads to the House of Representatives and the State Senate for a full floor debate.
