St. John's College of Nursing honors donors with scholarship fund

The St. John's College of Nursing is remembering the late Patricia Ann Sur Hart by naming a scholarship in her honor.

Hart endowed $1.125 million to the school to establish a scholarship, which was awarded for the first time this year to Raven Smith of Springfield, who is working toward a degree in nursing.

The 1955 college alumna worked in the medical field as a nurse and as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

Charlene Aaron, chancellor of St. John's College, said Hart believed in education.

“Pat valued her education and with this endowment, she has now created educational opportunities for others,” Aaron said. “We could not be more grateful for Pat’s generosity toward the future of nursing.”

“It’s a place where lives are transformed, and in Pat’s case, a place to transform the lives of so many with her generous gift.”
