Awards will be given: first place, $150; second place, $100; and third place, $75.
The Visual Arts Committee’s annual exhibit has an open theme, with all mediums.

MILFORD >> LiVE @ the Mac will present Mile Twelve, a hard-driving young band that walks the line between original and traditional bluegrass, on Friday, Jan. 27.
Evan Murphy, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Nate Sabat, Catherine Bowness and David Benedict write songs and instrumental pieces from diverse influences.
“Mile Twelve is carrying the bluegrass tradition forward with creativity and integrity,” said longtime banjo player-teacher Tony Trischka.
Since its formation in fall 2014, Mile Twelve released a debut, six-track self-titled EP, and performed throughout the U.S., Ireland and Canada, including several major events such as the Grey Fox Bluegrass, FreshGrass, Wind Gap Bluegrass and Joe Val Bluegrass festivals.
A track from the debut EP was featured on Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction’s “Hand Picked with Del McCoury,” while another was on Spotify’s “Fresh Bluegrass” 2015 playlist.
Tickets for the show are $15 for MAC members, $20 for nonmembers and $5 for students with a valid student ID. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Snacks, beer and wine will be sold. The coffee is free.

MILFORD >> Having lost three sisters and her father to Huntington’s disease, Betsy Ratner, abstract mixed media artist, has decided to donate all proceeds of the sale of her paintings to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America for finding the cure.
Ratner’s exhibit, ”Loving Light” at Cafe Atlantique, 33 River St., will be shown in February.
Ratner says that each person can use the suggested prices, but pay what they wish, knowing where the proceeds will be going.

WOODBRIDGE >> Passes for two free tickets to a show a Long Wharf Theatre, 222 Sargent Drive, New Haven, are available at the Woodbridge Town Library, 10 Newton Road.
The passes provide free admittance for two to any one show at Long Wharf.
• The show date and time must be selected when the pass is picked up.
• Patrons can pick up a pass for any performance during a show’s run once the show has started.
• Patrons can only use one pass per show. Passes can only be reserved and given out in person. Once a patron has taken out a pass for a show, the dates cannot be switched or changed.
• Patrons must call Long Wharf once they have received a pass to confirm their seats. Long Wharf grants seats pending availability.

MILFORD >> Arts in CT Corp., part of a group of companies, including the Performing Arts Academy of CT, has opened at 64 Ridge St.
Founded by Barbara Alexander, Arts in CT is a nonprofit artist agency, offering 65 programs presented by professionals and specialists in various artistic fields for such venues as day cares, senior centers, after-school programs, restaurants, local paint nights. Scholarships are available.
Performers are sought for three productions later this year: the Tiny Tot Theater’s “101 Dalmatians,” ages 2-7; the Children’s Theater’s “Shrek, Jr.,” ages 5-15; and Teen Theater, “Legally Blonde, Jr.,” ages 13-18.
Classes are taught by local instructors and professional artists. Virtual lessons via Skype, FaceTime, and more are also available.

MILFORD >> The Milford Camera Club welcomes photographers of any age interested in the art of photography.
Meetings are held at the Margaret Egan Center, 35 Mathew St., at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays from September until late May.
Jan. 25 will be a competition of photos judged by photographers from other clubs.

WOODBRIDGE >> The town is calling for photo submissions to be used in various media including social media, the town website and printed materials.
“I want our town communication vehicles to be as beautiful as our town,” said First Selectman Ellen Scalettar.
“This call for photographs ties in to my priority to improve communications and build community by recognizing some of our talented residents,” she said.
Submit a favorite high resolution digital photograph — vertical or horizontal — to Betsy Yagla at email@example.com. Photos may be of any Woodbridge location in any season.
If people appear in the photo, photographers must include their permission to be represented for this purpose. When practical, photos that are published will be credited with the photographer’s name. Identify the location of a submission and how the name should appear if a photo is used.
MILFORD >> Linda Whittaker, Milford Senior Center music teacher, is seeking band members.
Clarinets, flutes, brass players and strings are sought. The center has several instruments that have been donated for seniors to use for free.
Most of the music is level 2 and is not too difficult to play. The band rehearses 10 a.m.-noon Wednesdays in the center’s Band Room, 9 Jepson Drive.
There are several daytime performances during the year.
A book of music will be put together for those interested. Call early, so the book of music will be ready.
